MARLENA PIEHLER
Hello, my name is Marlena and I have been working
at FLAH since 2006.
I started as a Kennel Kid, cleaning up cages
in back. A few years later I was promoted to the receptionist position.
I am aspiring to become a veterinarian and working at Franklin
Lakes Animal Hospital has enabled me to understand all the many
different aspects of my career path.
I am a sophomore at Ramapo
College of New Jersey where I am learning all the material I need
to help prepare me for veterinary school.
Much of my free time
is spent studying for my various classes but I also make time to
be active in volunteer work. I volunteer at Pony Power, a therapeutic
horse riding center. There I learn the dynamics of horses as well
as spend time with children. I am continually amazed at how both
the children and horses respond to certain events.
I also volunteer
at PATCH, a cat shelter, which gives me hands on experience with
the cats. They are all so adorable with their own unique personalities.
I
live at home with my family and my sweet kitties, Woody and Peppermint
Patty. My cats are my babies who are responsible for sparking my
interest in a veterinary career. Their interactions with each other,
inanimate objects, and myself, keep me constantly entertained at
home. Although my life may seem a little busy, I love coming to
work and discovering new ways that I can help fellow animal lovers.
Every animal deserves a happy home and a great visit to a caring
vet is a great place to start!
